Reading the numbers,
and knowing what they are worth.
Second-year Global BBA student, majoring in corporate finance at SKEMA Business School. I am interested in how figures describe an activity, and in what they do or do not allow you to conclude.
01 — Interests
What keeps me busy outside lectures.
I come from physics and mathematics. I kept the habit of checking a figure before believing it, and of saying where it came from.
My interests range from how financial markets and real estate work to aviation and running concrete projects.
Finance and markets
Reading accounts, analysing performance and following markets, with a Bloomberg Market Concepts certification obtained in August 2026.
Real estate
Running a ten-property rental portfolio in Antibes, from pricing to owner reporting.
Aviation
Student pilot, flying solo since 2023.
02 — Case studies
Two cases, two exercises.
First case — running a portfolio
In the summer of 2025 I took responsibility for a rental portfolio of ten prime apartments in the old town of Antibes, on behalf of Absoluty. Here is how I worked, and what came of it.
The figures below are real. The properties are not identified and the detailed operating data is not published: it is commercial data, and it belongs to the business.
- Situation
A mixed portfolio — ten properties of different sizes and locations — run by hand, with no common pricing grid and no consolidated view of occupancy. One property had just entered the portfolio, with no pricing history.
- Hypothesis
In a short-let market at peak season, the opening price of a property with no history drives how fast it fills more than its absolute level does. Positioning too high at launch costs nights that cannot be recovered later.
- Decision
Built a pricing grid for that property ahead of the high season, benchmarked against comparable properties in the portfolio and adjusted weekly against the observed booking pace.
- Outcome
Occupancy rose over the season. Across the portfolio as a whole, nineteen viewings turned into fourteen firm bookings for the following season — close to three in four.
- Beyond
Redesigned the tenant journey to make the whole thing manageable: centralised Keycafe key boxes across all ten properties, welcome documentation and correspondence templates rewritten. Fewer exceptions to handle, so more time on the part that creates value.

Second case — launching an asset
In late 2025 I was asked to prepare a new property in the portfolio, Maison Soleiha, for launch ahead of its opening in early April 2026.
- Financing
Contributed to the financing plan for the project: funding sources, schedule and break-even point.
- Market
Comparative study of the short-let market in the old town of Antibes: competing properties, their price levels, capacity and amenities, so as to position the asset within the existing supply rather than in the abstract.
- Forecast
Built the operating forecast: revenue projection, target occupancy month by month, and cost base. A property with no history has no trajectory — you have to assume one, and write down what it rests on.
- Pricing
Set the launch pricing strategy, anchored on the benchmark and on the occupancy assumptions adopted. The opening price of a property coming to market drives how fast it fills more than its absolute level does: positioning too high costs nights that cannot be recovered later. The grid was adjusted weekly against the observed booking pace.
- Next
The property went live in early April 2026. I tracked the effect of the grid on occupancy over the first months. The gap between forecast and outcome is the most instructive part of the exercise, and it is the one I want to learn to run on financed transactions.
What I take from these two exercises, and it holds well beyond seasonal lettings: an asset is not run on instinct. It needs a process that holds without permanent exceptions, a written assumption someone can read back, and a measure of the gap between what was expected and what happened. That is what I want to learn to do on larger deals, with debt on the other side.
03 — Experience
Professional background.
- Ran a portfolio of ten prime properties in the old town of Antibes, representing over €700,000 in annual gross rental income: pricing, marketing, operations monitoring and owner reporting.
- Converted nineteen viewings into fourteen firm bookings for the following season.
- Supported a property valuation expert on the component depreciation of the seven owned properties: breaking down cost items and setting the depreciation lives applied.
- Redesigned the tenant journey: centralised Keycafe key boxes, welcome documentation and correspondence templates.
- Customer advice and in-store sales: 40 customers served across a Saturday, €150 average basket. Till management.
- Till management and daily reconciliation on a busy terrace.
- Maintenance, assembly and conformity checks on five aircraft models, under strict safety standards.
04 — Education
Academic background.
- Two years completed by December 2026, then the third year at SKEMA's Raleigh campus, North Carolina, from September 2027 to May 2028. Grade point average: 3.70 / 4.
- Coursework completed: Financial Analysis and Decision Making, Financial Markets and Institutions, Managerial Accounting, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Statistics, Calculus I.
- Mathematics, physics and computer science at a demanding level. A scientific grounding redirected towards corporate finance.
- 16.76 / 20, highest honours (mention Très Bien). Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry majors, Advanced Mathematics option.

06 — Flying
What flying taught me.
Student pilot, flying solo since 2023, with over thirty hours on a Robin DR400.
You do not take off without having prepared the flight: mass and balance, fuel, weather, diversion airfields. In the air, procedures are not up for debate, and when conditions change you decide quickly with the information you have — not the information you would have liked. I have not found a better school of rigour, and it is the skill that carries over most directly into a financing file.
